Timur Novikov often painted urbanscapes of Leningrad in his early period and this haunting image of the River Moika is filled wiith profound and poetic feelings. The uninhabited canal is seen through the eyes of a local citizen who is familiar with the morning mists, cool fresh air and quiet even light of his native town at daybreak.
