Painter. Studied under Sokrat Vorobyov at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1858–59). Awarded a minor silver medal for perspective painting (1859) and the title of free artist (1859). One of the first Russian artists to develop the motif of winter landscapes (late 1850s), paving the way for their later popularity (1860s). Reputedly died after shooting himself at the age of twenty-six (1859). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1858, 1859).
