Painter, graphic artist, teacher. Son of German landscape painter Georg Friedrich Schlater (1804–1870). Born in Dorpat (1834). Studied under his father in Dorpat and under Maxim Vorobyov at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1853–57). Worked as an artist and a teacher in Reval (1859–72). Awarded the title of non-class artist of landscape painting (1869). Emigrated to Düsseldorf (1872). Died in Düsseldorf (1879). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1869–72).
