Painter, sculptor. Born in the family of Ivan Petrov in the city of Gorlovka (Horlivka) in the eastern Ukraine (1938). Moved to Moscow (1957), where he studied at the 1905 School of Art (1960–65) and under Dmitry Zhilinsky and Boris Talberg at the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art (1965–71). Member of the Union of Artists (1975). Lives and works in Moscow. Contributed to exhibitions (from 1965), including Portraiture in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2001–02), Twosome at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2002–03), All Creatures Great and Small: Russian Animal Art (18th to 21st Centuries) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2004), Collage in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2005–06) and Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006).
