Like Conceptualism, Sots Art was another influential movement that manipulated Soviet codes in the 1970s and 1980s. The photocollages of Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid, the photoseries of Alexander Kosolapov, the ironic painterly remakes of classical works by Rostislav Lebedev and the sculptures of Leonid Sokov offer an idea of how Sots Art entered the Soviet spiritual space overloaded with ideological pictures and slogans and developed a travesty version of Communist values.
