Prince Victor Kochubey

Died: 1834, Moscow

Diplomat, statesman. Born in the village of Dikanka in the Ukraine (1768) in the family of Pavel Kochubey (1738–1786) and Ulyana Bezborodko (1742–1776). Served in the Preobrazhensky Regiment. Worked for the diplomatic service (late 1780s–1790s). Full privy councillor (1798), count (1799), senator and member of Tsar Alexander I’s Private Committee (1801), minister of the interior (1802–07, 1819–25), chairman of the State Council and the Committee of Ministers (1827), prince (1831), state chancellor of the interior (1834). Died of angina in Moscow and buried in the Church of the Holy Spirit at the St Alexander Nevsky Monastery in St Petersburg (1834).
