Pavel Mikhailov

Painter, draughtsman, miniaturist. Born in the family of Nikolai Mikhailov in St Petersburg (1786). Studied under Stepan Schukin at the Imperial Academy of Arts (from 1795). Awarded a minor silver medal (1804), major silver medal (1805) and a minor gold medal and first-class certificate (1806). Academician (1815). Accompanied the round-the-world trips of Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen (1819–22) and Captain-Lieutenant Mikhail Stanyukovich (1826–29). Made drawings reproduced as lithographs in Atlas of the Journey of Captain Bellingshausen published in St Petersburg (1831). Died in St Petersburg (1840).
