Anatoly Zhigalov

Born: 1941, Arzamas

Painter graphic artist, installation artist, video artist, performance artist, poet. Born in the family of Ivan Zhigalov in the town of Arzamas in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod) Region (1941). Graduated from the Nadezhda Krupskaya Pedagogical Institute in Moscow Region (1961). Employed transparencies, photography, cinema and modern technologies. Collaborated with Natalia Abalakova (from early 1970s). Member of the Apt-Art movement and founder of the Moscow Archive of New Art. Lives in Moscow. Contributed to exhibitions, including Adventures of the Black Square at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2007).
