Painter, graphic artist. Father of Dmitry Shagin. Born in the family of Nikolai Shagin in Leningrad (1932). Studied at the Academy of Arts Secondary School of Drawing (1945–51, expelled) and the Vladimir Serov School of Art (1953–55). Member of the Fellowship of Experimental Fine Art (1980s). Member of the Katyshev Orchestra of Folk Instruments. Died in St Petersburg (1999). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1958), including the shows at the Ivan Gaza Palace of Culture (1974) and Nevsky Palace of Culture (1975) and a one-man show at the Union of Artists (1981).
