Cuban artist. Born in Matanzas (1959). Graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana (1985). Vice-president of the Consejo Nacional de las Artes Plásticas (1989–90). Fellow of the Banff Centre for the Arts, Alberta, Canada (1990). Master of Fine Arts (1991–92). Trained at Concordia University, Montreal and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax. Lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts. Contributed to Made in Havana. Contemporary Art from Cuba at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Brisbane (1988), Kuba o.k. Aktuelle Kunst aus Kuba. Arte actual de Cuba at the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales in Havana and the Kunsthalle in Düsseldorf (1990), No Man is an Island.
