Palace of Count Burkhard Christoph von Münnich

Domenico Trezzini built “chambers for an aristocrat” on the embankment of Vasilyevsky Island (1718). Acquired by the vice-chancellor Count Heinrich Johann Friedrich Ostermann (1721). Reconstructed and expanded (probably by Ivan Korobov) for Count Burkhard Christoph von Münnich (1733–38). After the new owner was exiled, the palace was awarded to the Naval Academy (1743). Badly damaged by a fire (1771). Restored by Fyodor Volkov (1796–98).
