Alexei Voloskov

Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of a merchant called Yakov Voloskov and his wife Vasilisa in the town of Rzhev in Tver Province (1822). Studied landscape painting under Maxim Vorobyov at the Imperial Academy of Arts (from 1837). Awarded a silver medal (1839) and the title of free artist (1845). Nominated to the Imperial Academy of Arts (1851). Married Raisa Polubenskaya (1863). Lived and worked in the Ukraine. Died in the town of Rzhev in Tver Province (1882). Contributed to exhibitions, including The Four Seasons: Landscapes in Russia (19th–20th Centuries) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006–07).
