Jewish painter, graphic artist, installation artist. Born in the family of Israel Lamm in Moscow (1928). Studied under Yakov Chernikhov at the Faculty of Architecture of the Moscow City Council Institute of Engineering and Construction (1944–47) and under Andrei Goncharov, Ivan Chekmazov, Pavel Zakharov and Alexei Sidorov at Moscow Institute of Polygraphy (1949–54). Member of the Union of Artists (1964–82). Arrested after applying to emigrate (1973) and sentenced to three years in prison and labour camps (1973–76). Emigrated to the United States (1982). Lives in New York. Contributed to exhibitions, including Abstraction in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2001–02), Collage in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2005–06), Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006) and Adventures of the Black Square at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2007).
