Painter, graphic artist, decorator. Born in the family of Fyodor Kholuyev at the station of Lev Tolstoy in the Central Black Earth (now Lipetsk) Region (1932). Studied at Ryazan School of Art (1948–51) and the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (1951–57). Board chairman of the Gorky Union of Artists (1975–77, 1982–83). Member of the Union of Artists (1960). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1975). Died in Nizhny Novgorod (2002). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1957), including Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006) and posthumous one-man shows in St Petersburg (2003) and Nizhny Novgorod (2003, 2012).
